What technologies we use
We rely on lightweight first-party cookies, secure HttpOnly session tokens, local storage, and in-app caches. Third-party scripts are avoided unless you explicitly enable optional analytics. No ad networks or social tracking pixels are run on our pages.
Cookie categories & purposes
Koala Convert uses the following categories of cookies and storage entries:
- Strictly necessary - enable secure logins, session continuity, CSRF protection, and conversion credits. Without these, the Service cannot function.
- Functional - remember presets, last-used export formats, theme preferences, and UI language so you do not have to reconfigure every visit.
- Analytics (optional) - if you consent, a privacy-friendly analytics cookie (for example Plausible or Umami) measures feature adoption and page performance.
Examples of essential storage keys
- koala_session - secure cookie that keeps you logged in for up to 7 days of inactivity.
- koala_limits - stores your remaining conversions for the day to keep UI counters accurate.
- ffmpeg_presets (local storage) - caches codec, bitrate, and resolution presets locally; never synced to our servers.
- cookie_consent - records whether you accepted optional cookies so we do not show the banner repeatedly.
Legal basis for cookies
Under GDPR, strictly necessary cookies are set based on legitimate interest to provide the Service securely. Functional and analytics cookies rely on your explicit consent, which you can grant or withdraw at any time through the cookie banner or app settings.
Managing cookies & choices
You can manage cookies directly through the banner, via the in-app settings panel, or by adjusting your browser preferences. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies, though doing so may sign you out or reset saved presets.
Clearing Koala Convert data only removes session information and preferences, it never deletes media on your device because we never upload your original files.

We may revise this Cookies Policy to reflect new features or regulatory requirements. Any changes will be posted here with an updated last updated date and, when necessary, highlighted via the consent banner.
